Bride of the Moon and Sea

This is my entry for 's mermaid contest, I won 2nd Place! I decided to also write a little snippet to go with it. Critique is enjoyed, I tried a different style, mixing mine with traditional Chinese/Japanese, I dunno...

The princess sat obediently in her private chambers. Her husband, the Deity who proclaimed himself ruler of the Moon and Sea, and had taken her as his wife the previous night. The princess sat endowed with a kimono complimenting the colors of the setting sun, combing her long ebony brown hair.
She watched as dusk roamed the horizon the words of her husband echoing in her mind, "Wait for me for when the moon is at its highest, I shall come with a gift befitting your beauty."
Heeding his words she sat patiently watching as the moon rose higher into the sky, she was so entranced with the sphere she did not notice her skin becoming as pallid as the orb.
At last the princess made to stand and prepare herself to greet her husband only to collapse onto the floor spilling out of her kimono, turning she notices a long fish tail where her legs had been, but soon came the calming voice of her husband,"My mortal bride, I have blessed you with the spirit of the Great Doitsu Koi, my empress of the moon's reflection, the sea and rivers shall be your court and the moon itself your palace from the time the sun leaves the sky"
